Chabad is an ideology rooted in the teachings of the Chassidic tradition, emphasizing love, joy, and intellectual exploration in Judaism. At the core of Chabad’s philosophy is the belief in the intrinsic value of every individual, regardless of background or observance level. Chabad encourages the fulfillment of any Mitzvah a Jew is capable of doing at the moment, as each one can bring light and holiness to the world. Through vibrant and inclusive communities, Chabad centers nurture spiritual and physical growth, making Judaism accessible, meaningful, and relevant to all.
Our journey in Austin commenced in 1984, as Rabbi Yosef and Rochel arrived to oversee Chabad on Campus at the University of Texas. Beginning with a modest school and community, Chabad of Austin has flourished into a dynamic center for Jewish life and education. Presently, our organization thrives with a campus, preschool, elementary school, summer camp, and a diverse range of year-round programs. Moreover, Chabad has expanded into six independent branches across greater Austin.
Our mission remains steadfast – to create a warm and welcoming environment where people from all walks of life can explore and embrace their Jewish heritage. From families to adults, youth to young mothers, everyone is invited to join our Chabad of Austin family. Together, we continue to carry forward the legacy of connection, spreading light and positivity throughout the Austin community and beyond.
