For the Jew in the Sloop. Chabad of South Loop is your center for all things Jewish. We provide dynamic Jewish learning opportunities, experiences and events for every Jew in the neighborhood at every age and stage. Every Jew is welcome - regardless of affiliation, level of knowledge or observance. Directed by Rabbi Mordechai and Mrs. Mushky Gershon, Chabad welcomes you to join us in celebrating our Jewish heritage.

Inspired by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, we are dedicated to strengthening and enhancing Jewish family life, providing an open door environment for every Jew regardless of background, philosophy, or level of observance.

What they offer

Chabad Jewish Center of South Loop is a Chabad house in Chicago, led by Rabbi Mordechai Gershon.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. Accommodation for guests can be arranged. They kosher kitchens for the community.

Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged and public lectures are held.

For children there is a preschool, a Hebrew school, after-school programmes, a children's club and a mother-and-child group.

Older children and young adults have bar and bat mitzvah instruction, a bar mitzvah club, a bat mitzvah club and a young professionals' circle.

They officiate at weddings, circumcisions and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage. A chevra kadisha serves the community.

The center visits patients in hospital, visits Jewish prisoners, looks after the elderly and provides humanitarian aid.
