Rabbi Elia and Chaya Eilfort (nee Weiss), together with their son, Dovey moved to Encinitas, California, September 2016.
The Eilforts moved to Encinitas to start a new Jewish community. Chaya and Elia both grew up in outreach Chabad homes, (Chaya in Miami Lakes, FL and Elia in Carlsbad, CA) and have developed a passion and excitement for reaching and teaching Jews about their heritage, Torah, and the Rebbe’s mivtzoyim. Encinitas has long been served by the neighboring Chabad center in Carlsbad, but due to the increasing Jewish population, the Eilforts will be filling a need for classes, programs, and services especially geared to the area. The young couple have said that they look forward to moving to the neighborhood and hope that they can change a city with a largely unaffiliated Jewish population to a thriving and lively, proud Jewish community. Rabbi and Mrs. Eilfort are currently looking for investors to partner with them in establishing this new Chabad institution. What they offer
Chabad of Encinitas is a Chabad house in Encinitas, led by Rabbi Eliahu Eilfort.
Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. Kosher meals are available on a meal plan. They kosher kitchens for the community.
Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged, courses from the Jewish Learning Institute are taught and public lectures are held.
For children there is a Hebrew school, after-school programmes, a children's club and a mother-and-child group.
Older children and young adults have a teen club and bar and bat mitzvah instruction.
They officiate at weddings and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage. A chevra kadisha serves the community.
The center visits patients in hospital, visits Jewish prisoners and looks after the elderly.
