Rabbi Shmuly Gurary was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He studied the Talmud and Kabbalah/Chassidus for nine years, learning in Brooklyn, and Burnoy, France. Rabbi Shmuly then went on to Melbourne, Australia as a student mentor and academic leader. He received his Rabbinic certification in 2020 in Brooklyn, NY.
Shevy was born and raised in Oak Park, MI where her parents served as Chabad Emissaries. She studied in Brooklyn and Israel. After graduating from Beth Chana Teachers Seminary in Tzfat, she took her passion and dedicated herself to community service, spanning many states and countries.
Together, Rabbi Shmuly and Shevy are here to serve the Jewish communities of Maple Valley, Covington and Black Diamond. Our vision is to create a warm, welcoming environment, and to explore and experience our heritage in an accepting and inviting atmosphere.

What they offer
Chabad of Maple Valley is a Jewish community centre in Maple Valley, led by Rabbi Shmuly Gurary.
There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. Kosher meals are available on a meal plan. They kosher kitchens for the community.
Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged, courses from the Jewish Learning Institute are taught and public lectures are held.
For children there is after-school programmes, a children's club and a mother-and-child group.
Older children and young adults have a teen club, bar and bat mitzvah instruction, a bar mitzvah club and a bat mitzvah club.
They officiate at weddings, circumcisions and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage.
The center visits patients in hospital, looks after the elderly and provides humanitarian aid.
