What they offer
Chabad of Alameda is a Chabad house in Alameda, led by Rabbi Meir Shmotkin.
There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. They kosher kitchens for the community.
Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged and courses from the Jewish Learning Institute are taught.
For children there is a preschool and a mother-and-child group.
Older children and young adults have bar and bat mitzvah instruction.
They officiate at weddings, circumcisions and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage. A chevra kadisha serves the community.
The center visits patients in hospital, visits Jewish prisoners, serves military personnel, distributes food packages and provides humanitarian aid.
