Jewish Surprise (AKA Chabad of Surprise) was established in 2024 to serve the Jewish community of Surprise, Arizona, and its neighboring towns. Chabad of Surprise is a welcoming place for all, regardless of affiliation or background. Our mission is to create a warm and inviting environment to explore and experience Judaism in an open and inspiring way.

Since its inception, Chabad of Surprise has provided religious services, social events, and community programs, including holiday celebrations, Hebrew school, hospital visits, weddings, funerals, and Shabbat meals.

Chabad of Surprise is an independent, nonprofit organization that is financially self-supporting. Every dollar received comes from generous donors like you, and contributions are fully tax-deductible.

Rabbi Shlomy & Batya Ceitlin (née Lew), along with their baby Mendel, moved to Surprise and founded Chabad of Surprise in 2024.

What they offer

Chabad of Surprise is a Jewish community centre in Surprise, led by Mrs. Batya Ceitlin.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. They kosher kitchens for the community.

Classes run regularly and one-to-one study can be arranged. There is a library.

For children there is after-school programmes and a mother-and-child group.

Older children and young adults have a teen club, a bar mitzvah club and a young professionals' circle.

They officiate at weddings and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage.

The center visits patients in hospital, visits Jewish prisoners, looks after the elderly, works with children with special needs, distributes food packages and provides humanitarian aid.

There is a women's group. Mezuzos and tefillin can be checked here.
