Beit Jabad Bahia Blanca

named Moshe and Sarah Freedman moved to this small city 400 miles south of Buenos Aires, to help bolster Jewish life as emissaries of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. They discovered an aging Jewish community that had been founded in the late 19th century by Baron de Hirsch in order to help European Jews find financial stability and freedom in the New World. ​In the decades since they opened their Chabad House, the Freedmans re-energized the spiritual and communal life there. Their accomplishments include the construction of a mikvah, countless Shabbat and holiday celebrations and dozens of Baalei Teshuvah . ​ When the economic crisis hit Argentina in 2000, they responded with financial and moral support for hundreds of working and middle-class Jewish families in Bahia Blanca. Tragically, Rabbi Moshe Freedman passed away in the summer of 2016, leaving his devoted wife Sarah and their children alone in the world, and their beautiful community without it's inspiring leader. ​Your generosity supplies the needs of hundreds of families who have come to rely on them for basic necessities, the strength of community and the joy of Judaism. ​Thank you for believing in the Jewish future!
