Chabad Lubavitch of Beijing, China was established in August 2001 in time for Rosh Hashanah 5762. Rabbi Shimon and Dini Freundlich together with their two daughters, Chaya Mushka and Devorah Freundlich, were sent to establish and run Chabad’s office in Beijing, China. They are now joined by their daughters, Chava and Grunia and their sons, Aaron and Eliyahu Akiva.
Reaching out to the approximately 2000 Jews currently living in Beijing. There are Jews from many different walks of life and countries across the world. The main places they come from are the United States, Israel, Azerbaijan/Russia and Europe. Chabad is here to cater for all their Jewish needs.
· Arranging kosher food and sourcing kosher products already available in Beijing.
Besides the Jews who live in Beijing there are approximately 15,000 business people/tourists who travel through each year. Chabad is here to serve as their “home away from home” helping to take care of their Jewish needs. This includes Shabbat services, Shabbat meals, hotel reservations and general information.
Schedule
- Kabbalat Shabbat begins at 6pm in the winter and 5 minutes after candle lighting in the summer.
- Torah class: 10:15 am "Chassidic insights into Prayer"
- Shacharit/Mussaf: 11:00 am
- Friday night (winter at 6 pm / Summer 5 monutes after candle lighting time) ,
- morning (11 am) and Mincha/Marriv

What they offer
Chabad Lubavitch of Beijing is a Chabad house in Beijing, led by Rabbi Shimon Freundlich.
There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. Kosher meals are available on a meal plan. A kosher store is run here. They kosher kitchens for the community.
Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged and public lectures are held. There is a library.
For children there is a preschool, a Hebrew school, after-school programmes and a mother-and-child group.
Older children and young adults have bar and bat mitzvah instruction.
Couples are prepared for marriage.
The center visits patients in hospital.
There is a women's group. Mezuzos and tefillin can be checked here.
