Inspired by the Rebbe - Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of blessed memory, Chabad welcomes everyone who is seeking the wisdom and warmth of Judaism, regardless of religious background, affiliation or financial means. Chabad enriches Jewish identity and helps ensure Jewish continuity through a variety of educational, religious and social services that increase Jewish pride, knowledge and commitment. Chabad of Bainbridge Island is dedicated to serving and reaching out to all Jews and to extend a hand with physical and spiritual support to those in need.

Rabbi Mendy was born and raised in Jerusalem, Israel. He studied in rabbinical colleges in Israel and NY for over 10 years. During those years, he served as a student intern, providing educational programs and holiday events in Eastern Europe, Central America, and the United States. Upon completion of his studies, he was ordained by leading Rabbis from America & Israel.

Shaina grew up in Oak Park, MI, where her father served as a Chabad rabbi for over thirty years. She studied at the local Chabad Cheder and high school. She completed her college years in Israel, graduating from Beth Chana of Tzefat, Israel.

Shaina taught in both elementary and high school in her hometown, as well as in Brooklyn, NY. Driven by a love for children and education, she also shared her warmth for Judaism with her students at the Chabad Hebrew School in Novi, MI.

What they offer

Chabad of Bainbridge Island is a Jewish community centre in Bainbridge Island, led by Rabbi Mendy Goldshmid.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. Accommodation for guests can be arranged. They kosher kitchens for the community.

Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged and courses from the Jewish Learning Institute are taught. There is a library.

For children there is after-school programmes and a mother-and-child group.

Older children and young adults have a teen club, bar and bat mitzvah instruction, a bar mitzvah club and a bat mitzvah club.

They officiate at weddings and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage.

The center visits patients in hospital, serves military personnel and looks after the elderly.

There is a women's group. Mezuzos and tefillin can be checked here.
